What happens if I forward an email that isn't a travel confirmation? ▾
Nothing bad. Departure Ready detects that the email doesn't contain travel information and ignores it. You won't receive a reply, and it won't appear in any trip. The email is discarded after parsing.
Can I forward a forwarded email? What about email chains? ▾
Yes. Departure Ready handles forwarded-of-forwarded emails and email chains. Claude AI reads the whole thread and extracts the confirmation data regardless of how many times it's been forwarded or how much quoted text surrounds it. This is something template-based parsers like TripIt can't do reliably.
Who can see my trips? ▾
Only you. Your itinerary lives in the Departure Ready app on your phone and is accessible by entering your 6-character code. If you want to share a trip with a travel partner, the app provides a private web URL — random, unguessable (e.g. departureready.travel/u/a3f9c2), not indexed by search engines, not linked from any public page. Only people you send that URL to can see it.
How does it decide which trip to add a booking to? ▾
Departure Ready looks at the dates in the email and compares them to your existing trips. If the dates fall within 14 days of an existing trip's date range, the booking is added to that trip. If not, a new trip is created. The trip title is automatically updated to reflect the full itinerary — so "Tulum" becomes "Tulum & Playa del Carmen" when the condo booking arrives.
Does it work with emails in French or Spanish? ▾
Yes — any language. Claude AI is multilingual by nature. French Air France confirmations, Spanish hotel emails, Japanese airline receipts — all parsed with the same accuracy as English emails. This is one of the key advantages over template-based systems, which require manually built parsers for each language.
Can I share a trip with my travel partner? ▾
Yes — two ways. (1) Send them the trip's private web URL — they can open it in any browser, no account or app needed. (2) If they want the trip on their own phone with push notifications, they can download the Departure Ready app and enter your 6-character code. Either way, you both stay in sync.
What if parsing gets something wrong? ▾
We're working on a correction flow. For now, forward the email again with a note at the top (e.g. "Check-in is at 2pm not 3pm") and Departure Ready will re-parse with your correction applied. If parsing fails entirely, you'll receive a reply letting you know — no silent failures.
